Accessibility Statement

This web site has been designed to conform to the Section 508 Accessibility Standards established by the U.S. Federal Government. This site also complies with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (all Priority 1 checkpoints and most of Priority 2 and Priority 3 checkpoints). Section 508 requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities.

Accessibility Features

Access Keys
Most browsers allow users to follow links using keyboard shortcuts. For Windows users, press ALT along with an access key (defined below). For Macintosh users, press CTRL along with an access key. Some browsers require the Enter button to be pressed after the access key combination in order to follow the link.

Use the following access keys for the primary navigation links:

Access Key 1 = Skip Navigation
Access Key 2 = Introduction
Access Key 3 = I-80 Urban Corridor
Access Key 4 = I-80 Rural Corridor
Access Key 5 = I-15 Corridor
Access Key 6 = Frequently Asked Questions
Access Key 7 = Press Releases
Access Key 8 = Questions and Comments
Access Key 9 = Home page
Access Key 0 = Accessibility Statement
Access Key S = Southern Corridor
Access Key C = Central Corridor
Access Key N = Northern Corridor

Text Readability
Font sizes in this site are defined with relative sizing instead of absolute point values. This allows users to enlarge the text as needed to accommodate visual impairments.

Colors
Colors throughout the site have been applied to provide sufficient contrast, which enhances readability and improves viewing for colorblind users.

JavaScript and Style Sheets
This site has been programmed to display and function effectively when JavaScript and/or style sheets have been disabled in the user's browser.

Images
All images include ALT tags that describe the image content. Graphics that don't contain useful information (such as those used solely for layout) include empty ALT attributes.

Links
All links that point to third-party sites will open in a new browser window.

Screen Readers
The code for this site was constructed to allow screen readers to access the page content before the list of navigation links (to avoid hearing every navigation item repeated on each page). For pages with a secondary navigation bar at the top, a "Skip Navigation" link is provided that jumps to the beginning of the page content.
